Google has revealed a new subscription service “Google Play Pass” for mobile games. It is available in US for Android users at a monthly cost of $4.99. For the first year, it is available at a promotional price of $1.99 a month.
This roll out closely follows the launch of Apple Arcade. Aside from mobile games, the service will include apps like AccuWeather and FaceTune. Including non-game services can help the service build appeal beyond gamers.
Further, it can enable non-game developers to generate revenue from Android apps. Play Pass is aimed to be an entry point into casual mobile games and other subscription-based apps.
