67% of businessmen in UK are concerned about the increasing populism and activism

There has been an uptick in media reportage about activism.

Majority of UK businesses are worried about increasing populism and activism according to “Populism Vs Capitalism” study conducted by Echo Research. The research also found that only 40% of trust big businesses while only 20% of people trust the government.

In the previous month, media reporting on activism was up 66%, with 300,000 and exceeding social media posts and, 80% of these posts are by 35 years old and under. Two-thirds of below 35 years olds in the UK and US have participated in some form of activism.

Capitalism has increasingly been in the public eye with media attention in both the US and the UK up by 43%. Echo CEO Sandra Macleod said, “People are mobilising. This is all giving rise to greater challenges to governments and businesses...”
