UK business reputation improves by 4 points over the last year

More UK adults see businesses as a force for good as compared to the previous year, a study released by the Confederation of British industry said. While 60% believe the reputation of businesses as good, 42% think companies are working towards improving local areas. 

This piece says with the increasing customer sensitivity towards social causes, and companies need to communicate their social purpose initiatives better. 79% of UK consumers are less likely to buy from companies with poor reputations, and 81% are less likely to make recommendations.

Climate change (32%), public health (22%) and upskilling employees (28%) were identified as the top areas where businesses can make a difference. Josh Hardie, CBI deputy director-general, said, “…The benefits of demonstrating firms’ positive impact can affect everything from a company’s bottom line to the talent it attracts.”
