Their digital ad spending across channels is growing by 19.1%.

An eMarketer report forecasts that search advertising spend in retail will grow by 22.5% in 2019 in the US market. This spend is expected to reach $13.12 billion in the same period. Spends by retailers will make up almost one-quarter of the total US search market.

The report also indicated that retailers are projected to spend $28.33 billion on digital ads this year. This spend, across all channels, is growing by 19.1%. Over two thirds of this digital ad spending will go towards mobile advertising.

Retail sales through mobile will go up by 28.9% in 2019, with desktop/laptop expected to grow by 4.3%. Oscar Orozco, senior forecasting analyst at eMarketer said that, “With the growth of voice search, we should also expect to see a continued emphasis on search in the foreseeable future.”
