The figure is expected to rise as fraudsters look to target the premium CTV segment
According to a recent report from DoubleVerify, connected TV (CTV) and mobile app fraud have grown significantly over the past 12 months. But despite the numbers, overall brand safety incidents and fraud remained low.
This article says that 86% of frauds for CTV comes from “bots”, while 54% of mobile app frauds come from apps and sites. The global brand-safety reported a 6.5% increase of CTV frauds, but mobile app incidents grew significantly with a 194% increase last year.
Viewability for CTV has increased to 62% this year compared to 59% in 2018, with video and display apps at 73% and 70%. In spite of the positive growth of CTV and mobile apps, it is still struggling to meet IAB’s standards, and advertisers who are demanding 100% viewability.
