A recent YouGov poll of IT decision makers in small businesses has revealed that a good proportion expect business spending on aspects such as Marketing and IT to increase in the next twelve months.

Almost a third (32%) thought that spending on IT (such as computers, telecommunications, software etc.) would increase in the next 12 months, compared to just 7% said spending on IT would decrease. 59% believed there would be no change.

With regards to marketing, a quarter (25%) said they expect spending in their business to increase in this area, as opposed to 6% who said it would go down, and two thirds (66%) who said there will be no change.

The importance of IT to businesses was underlined in the poll. 95% said technology was important to the general running of their company, 90% had the same view of finance and accountancy. 78% said the same for marketing, 41% about HR and 63% about training.

Rudy Sooprayen, Research Manager, Omnibus said; ‘It is possible to assert that many businesses are now starting to feel the benefits of the burgeoning economic recovery, and are beginning to feel confident enough to increase spending on crucial aspects of the business, such as more sophisticated IT software and marketing collateral. It will be interesting to see if this continues over the next few months and years.’’
