Our latest YouGov daily polling for the Sun has topline figures of Conservative 37%, Labour 42%, Liberal Democrats 8% and others on 13%. In the last few weeks Labour's lead in our daily polling appears to be settling down at around five points.
Yesterday, we also asked what people consider to be the most important issues facing the country. The economy continues to be the dominant issue, cited by almost three-quarters of respondents (74%). It is followed, as usual, by immigration on 46%, and health on 36%, which has been steadily rising since the start of 2011. Pensions, however, was the fourth most mentioned issue, picked by 34% of people as an important issue, by far it's highest ranking on the fortnightly tracker so far. This is likely to be a direct result of the controversy over reforms to public sector pensions.
Pensions are also frequently mentioned when people are asked the most important issues facing them and their families; at 38% it is second only to the economy on 65%. It is followed by health on 36% and taxation on 30%. Tax is seen as a much more important issue when people are asked about their own families than when asked about the country as a whole - a mirror image to the issue of immigration, which many people see as an important issue facing the country, but comparatively few see as a problem that impacts upon their own family.
