Today's voting intention figures for the Sun have the Conservatives and Labour equal on 40%, and the Liberal Democrats on 9%. This equals the lowest score for the Liberal Democrats since the election, but is within the margin of error of their normal level of around 11%, so may yet turn out to be a blip.
In yesterday's poll we also asked who of the main party leaders would make the best Prime Minister.
- David Cameron was comfortably ahead with 39%
- Ed Miliband was on 24%
- Only 5% of respondents thought Nick Clegg would make the best Prime Minister.
Yesterday we also published the latest of our ITV Wales monthly polls of Welsh voting intention ahead of the Assembly elections in May.
- Labour retain a healthy lead in both the constituency vote (where they have 44% support, with the Conservatives and Plaid both on 21% and the Liberal Democrats on 9%) and the regional vote (were they have 41% support, with the Conservatives and Plaid both on 20% and the Liberal Democrats on 9%).
- If these figures were repeated at the actual Welsh Assembly elections, then Labour would gain four seats, leaving them with exactly half of the 60 seats in the assembly.
