2010 will already go down as special year in Take That’s history as hitherto estranged member Robbie Williams was welcomed back into the fold, and to top it all off, the band has also run away with top honours in the YouGov Awards. The band’s single, The Flood, and album, Progress, topped the YouGov awards, beating off competition from rappers Jay Z and Eminem, crooner Michael Buble and Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle.
- One third (33%) selected The Flood as Single of the Year
- Jay Z and Alicia Keys finished second (13%) with Empire State of Mind
- Progress topped the Album award with 23%
- Michael Buble was the Album runner up (16%) with Crazy Love
Unsurprisingly, we can see a large gender gap in these results. 39% of women selected The Flood as single of the year compared with just 25% of men, although the single still topped the list for both genders. Again, women were more likely to vote for Take That in the Album of the year (31% vs. 14%) with men preferring the offerings of Michael Buble (17%) and Kings of Leon (16%).
