47% say Prince William is best royal British ambassador; 18% say Prince Harry, 7% Prince Charles
From a list of Royal Family members (other than the Queen and Prince Philip) almost half of Britons have selected Prince William as the best ambassador for the Britain, our poll for the Sunday Times has found. Prince Harry was next in line, with 1 in 5 respondents considering him the best royal ambassador from our list.
- 47% chose Prince William as the member of the Royal Family who they feel is the best ambassador for Britain
- Just under 1 in 5 (18%) say Prince Harry is the best ambassador the Royal Family
- 10% say the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton)
- First-in-line to the throne Prince Charles was voted best ambassador by 7%
- 1% chose Prince Andrew
- While one in ten (10%) feels that none of the members of the Royal Family from our list make the best ambassador
Prince William's profile has grown exponentially in the past year, after he married his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton in April 2011, to an estimated global audience of 2 billion. The couple, whose home is on Anglesey, took more of a backseat in public life immediately following their wedding, with Prince William being deployed to the Falkland Islands earlier this year as part of his military duties.
The Duchess of Cambridge, however, made her first public speech late last month, praising the 'inspirational' work of the East Anglia children's hospice of which she has become a patron.
While William's father Prince Charles is next-in-line to the throne, Her Majesty the Queen shows little sign of slowing down: her Diamond Jubilee takes place this year and she is but three years away from surpassing Queen Victoria as the longest-reigning British monarch ever.
