Advantage to Boots

Boots’ popularity has been soaring on the TellYouGov leaderboard. The chemist brand is the second most talked about topic in the site’s retail category, gaining a volume of 95, just below the retail giant and Boots leaderboard rival, Tesco (which has a score of 122).

In addition, it has received a sentiment score of 57, far higher than Tesco, which has a score of just 36. Most of the comments are sent in by customers remarking on the good level of service they have received while shopping at a Boots branch. TellYouGov has received many positive comments, or ‘tygs’ such as ‘staff in the Bangor, North Wales branch go the extra mile to help’ and ‘fantastic service at photo developing counter’ praising the ‘caring staff’.

Tyggers have also been commenting favourably on the store’s loyalty card, (the Advantage card), saying ‘my store card always helps me out when my purse is empty by using the points to buy what I need’, and others simply praised the ‘good loyalty points, calling them the ‘best on the high street’.

The few negative comments that the brand did receive were a reflection of its prices, with many claiming them to be ‘expensive’ and ‘a rip off’.

However, with the magnitude of positive comments being posted, it will be unsurprising for many to hear that Boots has recently announced that its profits have just exceeded £1billion for the first time; even more impressive when you consider the fact that it is one of only three UK retailers to have ever achieved profits of this amount. It seems that many of our tyggers would agree.
