The anticipation of, and subsequent DVD release, of James Cameron’s science-fiction epic Avatar on Monday 26th April has seen a surge in the amount of interest paid to the box-office smash on the TellYouGov leaderboard.

Already celebrating becoming the fastest-selling home entertainment release of all time in the USA, Avatar seems to be proving popular on this side of the Atlantic too, with people wanting a little bit of Pandora magic to take home with them. Over the past week, the film (one of the most expensive ever made) has seen increases in both its leaderboard volume and sentiment score ratings.

Figures from April 27th show Avatar's leaderboard volume in the past week as 98, a significant increase of 47 points in that time period. Comments, or 'tygs', seem to be largely complimentary, reflected in the film's sentiment score of +41, suggesting a significantly positive feeling from the public towards the film.

The film has certainly received high praise from some users, or 'tyggers', with one describing it as ‘one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen’. Others simply said ‘superb’ and ‘wow’. For those worrying that the DVD would not be as effective as watching the film in 3D at the cinema (one tygger said that it ‘worked great on the big screen - it will be a let-down on DVD’) their fears may be eased by the incoming testimonials from satisfied viewers. One tygger described the film as ‘still effective on small screen’, while another said it ‘gets better every time I watch it!’ It seems Avatar's already-unprecedented levels of success are set to continue for some time yet.
