Robocop and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit top the buzz chart for future releases while moviegoers pick The Wolf of Wall Street as their top viewing choice for the week ahead

Starting this week YouGov will be monitoring the buzz surrounding future releases – from four weeks before they hit screens until the day they show – and revealing the top viewing choices for the week ahead.

Hitting screens today are the Coen Brother’s award-winning Inside Llewyn Davis, John Wells’ August: Osage County, Peter Segal’s Grudge Match and Kenneth Branagh’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

But despite already having weeks before them to gather buzz, of these only Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit makes it into the top three, with 21% saying they have heard something about it.

Topping the buzz chart is Robocop, not to be released until 7th February, with 24% having heard something about it, and the Lego Movie is in third with 20% and still three weeks until release (14th February).

That makes it a decidedly male four weeks for movies, and filmmakers could be missing a trick as only two of the top ten movies for buzz have a greater female than male awareness. They are August: Osage County (20% female, 12 male) and Mr. Peabody and Sherman (8% to 5% respectively).

Asked which of these new releases they would like to see, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit comes top with 15%, Robocop comes second with 14% and I, Frankenstein is in third with 9%.

YouGov also asks those likely to go to the cinema in the next seven days (moviegoers) which current releases they are most likely to see. Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street wins with 18%, Bafta award winning 12 Years a Slave comes second with 14% and The Railway Man gets bronze with 8% of the vote.
